The minimum training requirements with Seabase are as follows:
- Certificate of Competency issued by Transport Canada or a Technical Diploma issued by a recognized training institution
- Marine Medical (Vessel) or CAPP Medical (Offshore Installation)
- H2S Alive
- Marine Advanced/Basic First Aid
- Vessel Personnel with Designated Ship Security Duties
- STCW Basic Safety
- Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats
- Advanced Fire Fighting
- WHMIS 2015
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Passenger Safety Management
- Certificate of Conduct
The majority of placements are East Coast Canada, The Great Lakes, The Canadian Arctic and Western Canada, although depending on area of vessel operation, an employee could be hired to work anywhere in the world with due consideration to the safety of all our employees.
Yes, there are opportunities for full time employment. In addition, a large number of contract opportunities turn into full-time placements.
Seabase covers all expenses associated with going to work either directly or through expense reimbursement. *
*Not all training courses required to work are covered by Seabase.
